Keith Highlanders Pipe Band Promotes Scottish Piping, Drumming, and Dancing in the Pacific Northwest. the Seattle-Area Organization Offers Instruction and Opportunities to Perform and Compete.

Founded in 1952, the Keith Highlanders Pipe Band is a nonprofit cultural and educational organization serving the Seattle community. The band promotes traditional Scottish piping, drumming, and dancing throughout the Pacific Northwest through instruction, performances, and competition.

Join the band

The band welcomes new pipers and drummers. Practices take place on Wednesdays from 7:30–9:00 p.m. at St. Thomas School in Medina, at the corner of NE 12th Street and 84th Avenue NE. Prospective members should contact the band for practice arrangements and music settings.

To play in the practice circle, new members must demonstrate the band’s settings of the minimum repertoire: Scotland the Brave, Rowan Tree, Amazing Grace, Orange and Blue, Keel Row, Willie MacRae of Ullapool, Green Hills of Tyrol, When the Battle’s O’er, and Bonnie Dundee. Competition players must also be comfortable with their instrument and the competition repertoire.

Performances and support

The band performs and competes in the Pacific Northwest and abroad. Performance fees and individual donations help fund uniforms and equipment and support its educational work.
